This unique collaboration brings together the high-quality practical skills training provided by St John Ambulance with ongoing supervision and support provided by Rightsteps clinicians, once the Mental Health First Aiders return to the workplace. Thus enabling businesses to evolve and manage their MHFA provision in an ethical, safety compliant, wellbeing centered way.

Mental Health First Aiders are an important part of a wellbeing strategy but there is more to having Mental Health First Aiders than asking for volunteers and training them. They must be properly supported in their roles and have access to regular effective ongoing professional support to ensure the appropriate application of skills and knowledge such as managing boundaries, in developing and retaining confidence in the role and managing their own wellbeing.

Rightsteps clinical support helps reduce organisational risk by safeguarding both the Mental Health First Aiders and the employees they support, enabling businesses to offer this provision safely and effectively. Based on the principles of clinical supervision and delivered by fully qualified therapists familiar with the St John Ambulance training. The Rightsteps remotely delivered planned small group and one-to-one support sessions will enable the MHFAs in confidence to;

► Manage the boundaries of the role

► Reflect and learn from interactions with colleagues

► Explore the impact of the role on themselves and discuss personal concerns

► Manage their own wellbeing

► Network as a group and provide peer to peer support

► Share concerns and learning

► Share information on useful sources of help

Ad-hoc unplanned support is also available in the event of a traumatic or difficult incident, enabling de-brief in a structured supported way.
