Child helping an adult having a heart attack.Department for Education recommendations

The Department for Education recommends that pupils at Key Stage 4 should know:

  • how and when to deliver CPR
  • the concept and use of Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

In addition, we suggest your pupils should also know the concepts of common first aid emergencies, and that they are provided a recap of the first aid skills taught in Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
